Harold health message for students

June 19, 2017

Ava Taylor, Angus Lawson, Charlie McCallum and Zoe Haylock with Health Harold and Life Education Van educator Stephanie Vance.

‘Healthy Harold’ — the health conscious giraffe — has returned to the local area to visit school children over the next few weeks.

The popular Life Education Van mascot is accompanying educator Stephanie Vance, stopping at Blighty Public School early last week and finishing the week at Deniliquin North School.

Before the end of this term, the pair will also visit Deniliquin South School, Deniliquin Christian School, and Mathoura Public School.

Miss Vance said the aim of the Life Education Van is to teach young people about healthy lifestyles, which includes positive social behaviours.

‘‘With the younger students the focus is on good health and how to be a good friend,’’ she said.

‘‘With the older ones, the focus turns to cyber safety and even drugs and alcohol — reducing the risks and knowing the laws.’’

Life Education has been empowering children and young people to make safer and healthier choices through education for more than 35 years.
